Why Vote for Mark Myles

I am the product of public education, the father of two daughters who attend public schools and I am not a career politician. I am a progressive, fiscally conservative, independent-minded Democrat, and I am running for the United States Senate.

Democracy does not work if elections are not contested and people don't involve themselves in the process. People stay at home and moan about the state of affairs, but then do nothing about it. I am tired of standing on the sidelines and watching the serious problems we face go unresolved. When I realized that nobody was seriously stepping up to challenge for Oklahoma's Senate seat, I said, "I will do it!"

I am a patriot who loves my country and I refuse to stand on the sidelines any longer. On Easter morning my pastor [commenting on Congress] said,  “I just wish they would talk to each other.” That was an observation shared by many and a sad commentary on the state of our country and the bitter partisan divisiveness that hinders our ability to fix our problems.
 
I reject the notion that any side has a monopoly on good ideas and I am committed to being a part of the solution instead of a part of the problem. I believe I offer a stark contrast to what the other candidates have offered so far.  

My message is to champion the principles and values we hold dear, the opportunity we seek, and the security we deserve. I will champion what matters and those things matter! If we do not lose sight of these beliefs, then yes, we will have the stronger America, the broader prosperity, the effective government, and the better future for both ourselves and our children in a climate where everyone is responsible. We need an environment that supports job creation and job growth.

We must not only challenge but change the policies that have led to the exploitation of and the hollowing out of the middle class, the outsourcing of jobs to other countries, and the flat out elimination of jobs here. We have the best workers in the world. Instead of saying we can't, we must recapture the spirit of American ingenuity and put people back to work in good paying jobs. We can solve all of our problems when everyone is contributing again. 

I will communicate this message and more to the people of Oklahoma. Regardless of the influence of special interest groups, I will show the country that the people still have a voice. I will listen to you and I will give you that voice! Together we will show the country that democracy does still work and the people still matter. My commitment to you is to always champion what matters! Together we will make our mark for Oklahoma!
