Healthcare
The new Healthcare Bill was long overdue. We must ensure that it will not be a burden on us.

We were due for a Healthcare Bill

Healthcare
Congress passed a new comprehensive healthcare plan designed to provide peace of mind and economic security for millions of uninsured Americans without affecting the health insurance benefits of people already covered.

The new plan accomplishes many things including:

    • Providing Small Business tax credits for insurance
    • Eliminating discrimination for children with pre-existing conditions
    • Assisting uninsured Americans with pre-existing conditions
    • Ending the practice of insurance companies dropping sick patients
    • Eliminating the donut hole in Medicare Plan D prescription plans
    • Providing free preventative care under Medicare
    • Extending coverage for young people up to age 26 on parent's plans
    • Helping retirees (55-64) with reinsurance plans until they are Medicare eligible
    • Banning lifetime caps on coverage
    • Banning restrictive annual limits on coverage
    • Providing free preventative care under private plans
    • Creating new and independent appeals processes
    • Guaranteeing premium payments used primarily for medical costs with rebates
    • Funding for community health centers
    • Promoting an increase in number of primary care practitioners
    • Prohibiting salary based discrimination
    • Providing aid to states for healthcare consumer information
    • Creating accountability for unreasonable health insurance increases
People already covered by insurance or Medicare should be unaffected. Small business will get assistance if opting to provide coverage. Only the uninsured must make a decision to be covered and tax credits are available for many. Despite initial resistance to the healthcare plan, it was created to help the uninsured obtain healthcare where they were not able to obtain it. I favor any supplemental change to further improve healthcare coverage while driving down the cost of insurance.
